Monitor for Security Surveillance

A security surveillance viewing station is where camera feeds are watched, whether by a guard at a desk, a team in a control room or a manager checking a single feed. This application page describes that setting in general terms. It is not a product page, and it does not present any listed model as a surveillance model: the listed models are general touch monitors that can be used for surveillance viewing among other applications. The CCTV category pages discuss the same setting from the category angle.

How surveillance viewing works

Surveillance viewing usually means watching one feed, several feeds on a split screen, or a rotating sequence of feeds. A single feed on a desk can be watched on a small screen, while a control room wall of many feeds needs larger screens and a planned layout. The number of feeds, the size of each feed window and the viewing distance together decide the screen size and resolution: a small window on a split screen needs enough resolution to keep detail visible, and a distant screen needs a larger size to stay readable. The listed models offer resolutions from 1024 by 600 to 1920 by 1080, so a buyer can match the resolution to the feed layout.

Brightness is quoted in candela per square metre, and it only makes sense when the value is tied to a model. A brighter screen is easier to read in a bright room, but brightness alone does not decide readability: the lighting in the room, the angle of the screen and the content on display all play a part. The model pages on this site give the brightness figure listed for each model, and the brightness guide page compares those figures model by model. No single brightness figure is presented as a range-wide value, because the listed figures differ between models.

Interfaces for surveillance systems

Interfaces decide what a monitor can connect to, and they differ between models. The models listed on this site use combinations of HDMI, VGA, USB, AV and BNC, and the exact list for each model is shown on its own page. A buyer should check the interface list against the existing equipment before ordering, because an adapter can solve a connector mismatch but cannot add a signal type that the monitor does not accept. The enquiry should list the source equipment and the cable types already in use, so any mismatch is found before an order is placed rather than after delivery.

Surveillance systems mix older and newer equipment: older cameras and recorders may use BNC, while newer recorders and viewing stations use HDMI or VGA. The two smallest listed models offer BNC alongside HDMI, VGA, AV and USB, which suits a mixed system, while the larger models offer HDMI, VGA and USB. A buyer should list the recorder outputs in the enquiry, so the interface match can be checked before the viewing station is built.

Touch and mounting at a viewing station

Touch is not always needed at a surveillance viewing station: a monitor that only displays feeds may not need a touch layer, and a non-touch use should be stated in the enquiry so the touch question is settled explicitly. Where touch is wanted, for example to switch feeds or control a view, the touch type should follow the working conditions. Mounting also matters: a desk station suits a stand, while a wall station suits a wall mount, and the 15.6 inch model lists a 75 by 75 millimetre mounting pattern with wall mounting as standard and a stand as optional.

Enquiry checklist

Before sending an enquiry, note the screen size, touch type, interface list, quantity and application, and whether the monitor will be open frame, embedded or panel mounted. Minimum order quantity and lead time are unavailable on this site and are confirmed per model in the enquiry. Quotations are confirmed per order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a quotation?

Send an enquiry with the size, touch type, interface list and quantity you need, plus the application. Quotations are confirmed per order, and specifications are confirmed per model before payment. This site does not list fixed selling figures.

What certification documents can you provide?

CCC, CE, FCC and RoHS are stated by the company. Certificates are available upon request. If a buyer needs a certificate for a specific model, ask for it in the enquiry and name the model, so the correct document can be checked.

Are the specifications on this page valid for every model?

No. Specifications are shown per model and must not be read across the whole range. Where a value is not listed for a model, the page says to confirm per model rather than filling in a generic figure.
